Katie & Phoebe’s Elopement

‘Phoebe and I were introduced by a work colleague but she wouldn’t give me the time of day. Months of conversation and persistence paid off and eventually we became inseparable.
‘We spent a year telling everyone including ourselves that we were “just friends” but eventually got to a point where we could no longer deny that we were completely in love!
‘She secretly met up with our friend Gracie while I was at work and made up a beautiful food platter, alongside orange juice and wine. When I got home, I found her sitting on the floor in her grey sharkskin suit, and she was holding out an engagement ring to me.
Her exact words were “Wear this!” That was when the very happy tears started.
‘We chose to write our own vows for our elopement with the help of our beautiful celebrant, Kineta Booker. When I started crying mid-vows, there were no dry eyes in the house at that point, ruining everyone’s makeup! The ceremony was absolutely wonderful and we couldn’t have wished for better.
‘The weather was cold and wet, but everyone had a smile on their face, had a lot of laughs and a whole lot of tears. Regardless of the weather, we all had fun and Andrea Kewish did an incredible job with the photos that she took of us.
‘After a super intimate elopement during the day, we hired out the Upper Dux at Dux Central for our reception. They were fantastic, providing catering, music and microphones for speeches.
